Play Therapy:
Play is a child’s natural form of communication and gives insight into their internal world. The therapist facilitates a safe space for children to explore their experiences, and developing coping strategies and techniques
Is a child-centred, one-to-one approach, aimed at children between 4- 16 years. The sessions are 45 minutes and take place at the same time, and place each week.
Play therapy empowers children and young people to explore difficult experiences, express themselves using the resources in the play room.
Throughout the sessions, the therapist develops an understanding of the child’s needs and works in unison with caregivers to help them guide their child through the therapeutic process.
Therapy for Teens:
Creative therapy, can be a effective alternative for teenagers who struggle talking about their emotions. Creative therapy includes using story telling, art, movement, sand trays, drawing and other sensory resources to speak on behalf of the emotion, to symbolically or metaphorically represent their internal experiences.
Teenagers are trying to navigate a crucial stage of development, while under pressure to perform academically, manage online and social demands.
It can help create distance between themselves and the emotion. Overtime, making it possible for them to identify and explore what those emotions mean, how they feel and how to manage them.
Child-Parent (Carer) Relationship Therapy:
Also known as CPRT, it is an effective 10 week intervention, you will learn play therapy techniques, that you will practice, with your child, each week.
The sessions are an opportunity to reflect on the previous week and refine your skills.
The aim is to empower you to act as an agent of change and practice these skills to improve communication, deescalate conflict, and respond to emotional and behavioural needs.
The training and workshops to equip parents, carers and professionals, with therapeutic skills, and knowledge, to positively support child development. You can choose from a range training that will help you better understand your child’s developmental and emotional needs.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Resources: The diversity of resources means, children and families from all backgrounds feel able to connect with the resources and use them to represent how they feel and their lived experience. It is helpful, if you share your cultural beliefs and values with the therapist encase new resources need to be purchased ahead of starting therapy.
Do you offer online session? or school visits? Therapy can be offered online via video call. I advise the parent-child relationship sessions to be online, as I recognise this is more accessible for parents who are often juggling a lot. It is worth enquiring about school visits because this is dependent on many variables.
Is it just playing: No, initially a child will begin to familiarise their self with the therapist and the space. While navigating the space, they may begin exploring their experiences and emotions. The therapist facilitate a safe space, and identifies themes within the child's play, these are relayed back to parent/carers to help them understand their child's internal world. Play provides a window into children's lives and helps us understand them.
What is my child disengages with therapy? you will only be charged for the sessions you attend. But are encourage to attend 3 ending sessions to ensure they have closure.
I am worried about my child/young person but they don’t want help: for therapy to be beneficial, a person needs to want to engage in help, I advise you explore the service options with them and discuss what you and they hope to achieve. Empower them to make a decision can help them engage.
How frequent is therapy?: it is best advised to access direct therapy on a weekly basis. CPRT can be delivered biweekly, where as training or workshops are at your discretion.
How many sessions of therapy does my child need: this is difficult to answer, because every engages at a different pace, but I suggest a minimum of 10-12 sessions. After the first 5 sessions themes will likely begin to emerge within their play and we may have a better understanding of how many more sessions they will need.
How do I know if it is affordable? I offer a number of concessionary rates, in reflection of the times. Please enquire about pricing because it varies. My prices are considerate of current economic difficulties.
What next: you are invited to contact me and share some of your difficulties. Then we can schedule a free 15 minute telephone consultation. I hope from this call, to learn if I can support your needs, and for you to get a feel for whether I am the right therapist for you.
